Happy New Year
February, 2004

In God We Trust.
A very happy 2004 to Cowgill Cousins all over the United States!

Note From George Lynds in Colorado

In the summer my daughter, Sue Hall, got us all together and we had a picture of five generations taken. I am now 92, and the youngest one in the picture will be one year old Jan. 15, 2004. I still drive my pickup and mow my own lawn. My wife, Lilly, died May 31. 2002.1 have lived in the house that I built since June of 1964. I have lived in Colorado since April, 1946. Love the climate. I drove a semi, 18 wheeler all over Colorado, Wyoming, Nebraska, and New Mexico. Loved it all. Yours Truly, George Lynds, 843 W. 80th Ave. Denver, Colorado 80221-4456.

Editors Note: That was a marvelous inspirational note to receive at the end of the year.

Our best thoughts to Ervin Cowgill, husband of Karen Cowgill, who is undergoing medical treatment. They both attended the Cambridge reunion.

Remember: Salt Lake City Cowgill Cousins Reunion 2005 Sandra Doutre is the chair of this reunion, which is set for June 6-12. The hotel is the Best Western Plaza, half a block from the library! The hotel cost will be $79 and the hotel has an airport shuttle. There is a virtual tour of the rooms at www.Plaza-Hotel.com. If you have any ideas for the reunion or can offer help, contact her. Salt Lake City has a wonderful genealogy library, and a museum and memorial at the university on the site of the Olympic torch.

For 2007, plan on Indiana! Chair is Karen Mappes at Rocklady@aol.com. Contact her for offers of help or information.

Genealogy Notes

The burial site of Daniel Cowgill, 1755-1843, has been found. He was a Revolutionary War veteran (P. 439 in Beatrix Cowgill's Cowgill history) Thanks to Beulah Franks of Kentucky the final resting place is Franks Cemetery, also known as the "Old Cemetery" at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Grant County, Kentucky. www.usgennet.org/usa/ky/county/grant/index/home.html. Two of Daniel's daughters, Elizabeth and Frances Sarah "Frankey" married the Franks brothers. A photo of Frankey's gravestone and a view of the church are at freepages.geriealogy.roQtswcb.com/~homepage/franks/StQnesl8.html. Beulah also provided corrections to Elizabeth and Frankey's information. Thanks to Beulah and to President Perry Cowgill for the information

Do you remember the old Hollywood Squares Show? Peter Marshall was the host, and, while the names may not be familiar to younger generations, the answers were great and often unscripted.

Q. Do female frogs croak?
A. Paul Lynde: If you hold their little heads under water long enough.

Q. If you're going to make a parachute jump, at least how high should you be?
A. Charlie Weaver: Three days of steady drinking should do it.

Q. Which of your five senses tends to diminish as you grow older?
A. Charlie Weaver: My sense of decency.

From Karen Cowgill reassures us: "My mind not only wanders, it sometimes leaves completely."

I used to have a handle on Life, but it broke.
Don't take life too seriously; no one gets out alive,
You're just jealous because the voices only talk to me.
Earth is the insane asylum for the universe.
Quoting one is plagiarism; quoting many is research.

I'm not a complete idiot - some parts are missing.
